During World War II, a Jewish family is deported to Auschwitz. On the train to the concentration camp, in a desperate gesture, the father throws one of his daughters into the snow, where she is rescued by a humble pair of lumberjacks. By adopting "the most precious commodity," their lives—and those of those around them—will change forever.
